About
Boggs Aquatics sits a little off the beaten path in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and freshwater hobbyists from across the greater Akron area happily make the drive — many passing chain pet stores along the way without a second glance. Owners Dan and Megan run the kind of freshwater fish store where the tanks stay impressively clean, the livestock arrives healthy, and the guidance is honest rather than pushy. Regulars routinely call it their only fish store, and several report fish bought here years ago still thriving.
The selection is the real draw. Alongside everyday favorites like mollies and bettas — shown off in some of the best-kept betta cups customers say they've ever seen — Boggs carries species you'd be hard-pressed to find anywhere else nearby: ropefish, flower horns, hillstream and brown kuhli loaches, crayfish, freshwater shrimp, and snails. If the fish you're after isn't in stock, Dan and Megan will gladly special-order it, tanks included, so even rare species end up available in Cuyahoga Falls, OH without a long hunt.
Shoppers also rave about the live plant wall — among the largest and healthiest around, pest-free and perfect for planted-tank and aquascaping builds — plus premium fish foods, décor, and a rotating mix of new and refurbished equipment for sale at fair prices. What keeps people loyal is the care. The owners take real time answering questions, treat a first-time betta buyer with the same attention as someone spending far more, and genuinely weigh whether a fish suits your tank.
One reviewer noted Boggs is the only shop they've seen actually quarantine sick fish instead of selling them. Beyond the counter, the team takes on hands-on jobs like setting up and relocating full 75-gallon tanks. The vibe is warm and a touch quirky — friendly shop cats wander the bright, spacious aisles, and there's always something interesting to watch.
For freshwater fishkeepers in northeast Ohio, Boggs Aquatics is a local fish store well worth the trip.

— Jeremy Ryan5.04 weeks ago“Dan and Megan were super helpful and knowledgeable! It was my first time visiting and I grabbed some cool shrimp and a beautiful betta for my setup. The fish here are so well cared for and they have lots of fun things to look at! Can’t wait to come back for some more plants :) and their shop cats are really cute and fun to see!”

— Wendy Jacobs5.0a month ago“If you need fish, this is your new go-to! The couple who runs the place is very kind and responsive. They always have a variety of fish; from the common molly to the rare flower horn. Their fish are some of the healthiest I have ever purchased, and I really admire their commitment to animal care. Sick animals do happen, and these guys know how to handle it! Nowhere else have a seen I seen sick fish actually being quarantined. They’ve also got a great selection of new and refurbished equipment. I will never buy fish anywhere else!”
— Allison Remick5.0a month ago“Very helpful very nice people. Had exactly what I was looking for. 👍”
— Mike Cook5.0a month ago“All of the fish seem to be really healthy and I have gotten some nice fish from here. However, I was talked into getting a Chinese algae eater for my algae issue. They really hyped these fish up here and did have them in every tank just about. I have goldfish and I always heard plecos and the like shouldn’t ever be kept with Goldie’s. The gal here assured me they’d be fine and how lovely they are. So I caved and bought two. Within 20 min these things were attaching to the slime coat of my fish. My mistake for not researching these fish before trusting the stores advice. I easily learned by a quick google search these fish are aggressive and really do like the slime coat on slower moving, larger bodied fish. Again fish here seem healthy but I do question the tank mate knowledge they have at least in my experience.”

— Matthew Eck5.02 months ago“Absolutley fantastic, this place should be your go-to pet store. This shop eliminates the need for petsmart and other chain businesses that sell everything for a ridiculous price.”
