Tucked into Keene, New Hampshire, One Stop Country Pet Supply has carved out a loyal following as the independent alternative to the big-box chains. While it serves every kind of pet owner — dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, small animals — its fish department consistently draws praise from aquarists in the Monadnock Region who appreciate healthy stock and knowledgeable staff. The freshwater selection is the heart of the aquatic section.
Customers have adopted jewel cichlids, crayfish, African clawed frogs, goldfish, and various snails here, and multiple reviewers single out the staff member working the fish room as especially polite and well-versed in husbandry. That personal touch matters: one long-time fishkeeper noted that while prices run slightly above Petco, the quality and health of the animals justify the difference. The store also stocks aquariums, though a few customers wish the aquatic section were even larger.
Beyond fish, the reptile corner has its devotees — one customer raved about a staffer's encyclopedic knowledge of glass tree frogs, and others have picked up leopard geckos and spotted leopard geckos along with feeders and UVB lighting. The small animal section rounds things out with rats, rabbits, and more. The broader retail floor is clean, well-organized, and genuinely pleasant to browse.
Shelves are stocked deep with premium kibble, raw and frozen foods, enrichment toys, and treats, with regular promotions like buy-two-get-one deals that keep regulars coming back. A rewards program adds extra value. Several reviewers emphasize that the store carries specialty items and brands the chains simply don't, making it a one-stop destination (pun intended) for Keene-area pet owners.
Staff knowledge is the recurring theme across hundreds of reviews. Whether you need dietary guidance for a senior cat or habitat advice for a gecko, the team tends to go beyond the expected. It's the kind of locally owned shop where employees remember your name and ask how your frogs are doing the next time you walk in.

The guy in the back with the fish is very polite and knowledgeable. All the pets are healthy and well taken care of, the prices may be a little bit more than Petco but I think it's worth it to get healthy good quality stock.

I’ve been in here many times and each time I’ve had a very pleasant experience. Over the weekend I adopted 4 glass tree frogs and the woman working with the reptiles was AMAZING at answering all of my questions. She as patient, kind, funny and really made the whole experience fantastic. Even when I went back in today to pick up fruit flies she shared in my excitement when I told her how they were doing. Because of her dedication and wealth of knowledge, I won’t be going anywhere else. She deserves a raise!

I've been a customer for years never had an issue but today after waiting and waiting at the counter while 2 employees where playing with a rabbit right next to me finally someone came to run the register and proceeded to claim I had to show my id and create an account in order to purchase snails quoteing it is new Hampshire LAW , I've been in the fish keeping hobby for almost 15 Year's and have never had to show id or create an account for any purchase of fish. I've bought fish from this location many times in the past with no need to scan my id. I have friends that have bought animals from this location and have stated they have never had to produce an id. Needless to say I did not purchase the snails and will take my business elsewhere
