About
On Route 28 in Windham, NH, The Aquarium Gallery is the rare aquarium store where a quick stop for fish food turns into a three-hour conversation about the hobby — more than one visitor admits to wandering in and not leaving for hours. Owner William (Bill to regulars) has decades behind the glass, and the museum-like front room sets the tone: vintage fish-keeping tanks and decor going back a century, plus a row of piranhas on display before you even reach the livestock. Freshwater is the heart of the shop, and it runs well past goldfish and guppies.
Locally bred and hard-to-find species are the real draw — shoppers come in hunting apistogramma honsloi dwarf cichlids, a pike cichlid, nano fish, livebearers, and medaka they couldn't track down anywhere else in southern New Hampshire. The live plant and moss wall is described as the biggest some hobbyists have seen in a store, and Krystian has been known to hand over a cutting from one of the planted display tanks he tends. Colorful shrimp for sale in Windham, NH round out the freshwater side, while the saltwater section keeps growing, with corals, live rock, and reef stock for local aquarists.
The team — William, Krystian, and Aaron among them — is what pulls people back from Rhode Island and the Massachusetts North Shore. They'd rather understand your whole water-chemistry picture than push a bottle of conditioner, and they'll happily write down a fish you're after when it isn't in stock. Beyond the showroom, William handles in-home tank setup, scheduled maintenance, reef and office-tank care, aquascaping, acrylic tank repair, and complete custom builds (he's collaborated with Quantum Technology on showroom pieces).
An adjacent space is currently being built out, so there's usually something new taking shape on a return visit. Bring your stocking questions for that next blackwater or planted project — someone here genuinely wants to help.

Customer reviews
“This place is awesome and truly a must-see spot for aquarium enthusiasts. The tanks are crystal clear, beautifully maintained, and stocked with a variety of species. If you're a fan of livebearers or even medaka, they usually have some great locally-bred varieties in stock. What really made the experience standout was the stellar customer service. I unfortunately can't remember the name of the man I talked to for a while here, but he was overflowing with knowledge about cichlids. He gave me some really helpful insight into the maintenance of my acrylic tank and familiarized me with some of the repair services offered here. He knew a lot about keeping community tanks and we chatted about the various options for stocking my new 33 gallon long blackwater project. He was so eager and kind to answer my endless questions and I really appreciated his help! When I'm ready to purchase more fish, I know where to go.”

— R MO5.03 days ago“The Aquarium Gallery is quite the gallery indeed! I had the pleasure to meet the owner 30 minutes prior to closing, I had just started my first tank and was a beginner in the fish keeping / Ciclid hobby. William was very honest, kind & helpful to the point he stayed past close. We had a wonderful conversation about more than just fish, he is very passionate and personable. While entering the storefront the true gallery starts, there are vintage fish keeping tanks & some decor from a 100 years ago. Before you enter the fish portion there are beautiful piranhas displayed. Finally into a well kept and cared for area with multiple varieties of healthy fish. On a second trip to get food, I spent time with an employee who was also just as helpful and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend The Aquarium Gallery to friends and family alike, not only for buying fish but exploring the gallery is the true pearl. All of my fish are currently thriving and it brings peace to the tank and my home. Wonderful place and people. Keep doing what you're doing because it's workina. Will be back soon. God Bless.”
