Woofmeow in Dover, New Hampshire is primarily a dog-centric pet store known for its indoor dog pool, self-serve woof wash, grooming salon, and training classes. The sprawling retail space stocks a deep selection of premium pet foods — including raw and freeze-dried options in back freezers that have converted skeptics who once dismissed it as overpriced. Regulars praise the Orijen kibble priced competitively against chain stores, along with single-ingredient freeze-dried treats like bison liver and chicken hearts that are hard to find elsewhere.
While dogs clearly take center stage, Woofmeow does maintain a freshwater fish and invertebrate section. The store carries live snails and shrimp, though the aquatic department has drawn criticism from fishkeepers. One customer reported finding most snails dead in their display tanks, with deceased animals left on display rather than removed.
Another noted that staff lacked basic knowledge about the shrimp species they were selling, unable to advise on compatibility for different tank setups. For serious aquarists in the Dover area, the fish section feels like an afterthought compared to the polished dog-focused departments. The grooming team has its standouts — groomers like Ashley Welch and Sam earn loyal followings for their patience and attention to detail, particularly with anxious or older dogs.
The indoor pool is a hit with lab owners and active breeds, offering 30-minute swim sessions at reasonable prices with clean towels and courtesy toys, though some visitors have noted cleanliness issues between sessions. The retail floor is clean, well-organized, and packed with toys, treats, and homemade dog goodies. Staff friendliness gets consistently high marks, though experiences vary — some customers have encountered dismissive employees or management friction.
Pricing runs slightly above big-box competitors, but many shoppers consider the curated selection and boutique atmosphere worth the premium. If you're a dog owner in the Dover area, this store delivers. For fishkeeping needs, you'll likely want to look elsewhere.

Zero. My boyfriend and i came in here last night looking for things for our dogs (as one does at a pet store). My boyfriend noticed their ettasays chews and we were looking at the chew meter on all of them when i looked at a different ettasays chew and noticed tons and tons of worms in them. I checked to see if they were in the other ones as well so i could bring them up to the cashier so they knew which ones they were and ofc the other ones had them too. I was trying to be nice by letting them know before a rude customer came in and scolded them, apparently i should have just let that happen lol. Their weirdo manager or supervisor (don’t know cause all she did was talk shit in the aisle next to us) came out asking what was going on. The girl explained and this woman was being so rude to her employee w the way she was speaking to her. She starts asking “who found this” and the girl obviously said it was me, this weirdo says something along the lines of “why is she looking at them”. Literally what kind of question is that? It is a pet store, we’re looking for shit for our dogs. Then proceeds to act as if it is our fault literal worms were coming out of their product and not their employees who it got past. Don’t buy those unless you want your doggies to get sick!!!! Have fun w the worms, hope your next customer isn’t nice!😁😁😁

I am so impressed with this place. When it was first built, I dismissed it as another overpriced gimmicky pet store but it's not. I find the Orijen kibble for a few dollars cheaper and plenty of large bags of the freeze-dried, single ingredient treats that I like to give my cats (bison liver, chicken hearts, rabbit bites etc). The most amazing thing about this place is the selection of RAW cat food/ treats in the back freezer. I have never found anything like that at any other pet stores that I've been to. I willingly drive here, even though I pass several petcos on the way.
