About
Too Many Tanks lives up to its name — this Omaha, NE aquarium store is packed wall to wall with clean, well-kept tanks holding one of the biggest livestock selections in the metro. Regulars flat-out call it the best fish store in Omaha, and the freshwater wall is the headliner: rows of healthy, vibrantly colored tropical fish, plus a strong run of cichlids, shrimp, and snails. The betta display is what sets the place apart — instead of the cramped cups you find at big-box chains, the bettas live in individual 3-5 gallon heated tanks, and shoppers say the difference in health and color is obvious.
If you're hunting for freshwater fish for sale in Omaha, NE, this is the wall to browse. Saltwater hobbyists are covered too, with marine fish and corals available alongside the freshwater stock, which is why locals searching "aquarium store near me" keep landing here. Planted-tank keepers come for the live aquatic plants, driftwood, and stacks of hardscape stone, and the team will even glue plants to rock for you.
The shelves carry well-priced aquarium equipment and decor, and a generous rewards program keeps regulars coming back. What customers mention most is the people. Owner Jeff is known for taking real time with shoppers — answering questions and laying out options rather than rushing a sale.
The staff, including Andrew, will test your water, troubleshoot why fish aren't thriving, and help match compatible tank mates; they'll also special-order a fish you can't find on the floor. When livestock doesn't make it, reviewers note the shop works to make it right. The store keeps growing.
A new reptile specialist with a Henry Doorly Zoo background has joined the crew, and shoppers say the reptile room and even the feeder insects are noticeably better cared for, with expansion underway and new animals arriving. For Omaha fishkeepers who want a hands-on shop run by people who clearly love the hobby, Too Many Tanks delivers.

“I was able to get a great deal on a used fish tank which was awesome but what was great about shopping here was the knowledge of the staff, they were able to answer all my questions to make sure my fish tank was set up properly and i was most thankful for that.”
— Timothy Krikac5.0a week ago“We had an amazing experience at Too Many Tanks! From the moment we walked in, Jase took the time to answer all of our questions and share his extensive knowledge about reptiles. He was incredibly patient and made sure my daughters felt included, teaching them about proper reptile care, habitats, and what it takes to be a responsible reptile owner. You can tell Jase genuinely loves what he does and cares about both the animals and the people who come into the store. He made the experience fun, educational, and memorable for our whole family. It's rare to find someone who is so knowledgeable and willing to spend time helping others learn. If you're looking for a place that truly cares about reptiles and provides outstanding customer service, I highly recommend Too Many Tanks—and be sure to ask for Jase! Thank you for making our visit such a great experience.”

— Nateisok ,5.0a month ago“I’m a reptile owner so having a local store that I can trust to buy new reptiles that won’t die after a few months is very nice. I will say in the past I was not pleased with the improper conditions of some of the animals but since the guy with the tattoos and glasses got there the reptiles have looked a lot better and the care for them is honestly impressive! I also love the new variety of animals that has been brought to the store. Keep going in this direction and you’ll have a loyal customer as long as you guys are open! This is the Uromastyx I bought from too many tanks last October!”
— UTOPIA5.0a month ago“The feeder insects are actually taken care of here. They aren't just left to starve to death in a cup like with many other pet and supply stores. Employees are incredibly helpful too.”
— SpaceGhost5.0a month ago“Amazing store with amazing prices and amazing staff I will be going here for all my fish and reptile needs”
— KXXL092 KXXL092someday5.0a month ago“Fantastic store for reptile decor. I hope they do more bio active stuff moving forward and expand the reptile area. The reptile community here is huge and we need a good store. If you build it we will come. Also big fan of Jace guy knows his stuff will be coming back to see him for sure.”
— Brett “Hammer”5.0a month ago“Too many tanks is a great place to get your fish and products from. Today I bought some shrimp. I have bought a lot of fish from here. They will order fish for you if your looking for a specific fish. That's if the order is not to large. So don't go order a great white🤣”
