Tucked into Sunset Village in St. Louis, Seascape Studio has carved out a reputation as the go-to saltwater aquarium shop in the metro area. This is a dedicated reef store — they don't carry freshwater fish (though they once had some stunning bettas that turned heads) — and that singular focus shows in the quality and depth of their saltwater inventory.
The coral selection is a standout. Reviewers consistently mention vibrant, healthy frags and colonies, with staff member Nick credited for stocking some of the best coral available in St. Louis, rivaling even online retailers.
Their frag tanks hold everything from beginner-friendly softies to sought-after pieces, all at prices customers call genuinely reasonable. 99 per pound — draws particular praise and is hard to find at that quality and price point. Beyond coral, the fish selection leans heavily toward reef-safe species, with hard-to-find triggers, angelfish, and clownfish regularly in stock.
The invertebrate selection is surprisingly diverse, including sea cucumbers, sponges, and feather duster worms — the kind of unusual livestock that rewards a careful browse. Macro algae rounds out an inventory clearly curated by people who maintain reef tanks themselves. The store sells pre-mixed saltwater at 99 cents a gallon (though salinity consistency has been flagged as occasionally uneven) and staff will help load buckets into your car.
New reefers regularly praise the patience of employees like Melissa, Chris, and Nathan, who walk first-time tank owners through species selection and troubleshooting without condescension. Several long-time hobbyists report never receiving a sick fish or dealing with coral pests from Seascape purchases — a track record that speaks volumes. The tanks themselves are immaculately kept and genuinely worth visiting just to admire.
Multiple reviewers mention spending an hour just looking and talking shop. For reef aquarium enthusiasts across the St. Louis region, Seascape Studio delivers healthy livestock, fair pricing, and the kind of focused expertise that only a dedicated saltwater shop can provide.

Great selection of saltwater fish and corals. Owner and nice employee (I wish I had asked his name) were helpful and genuinely interested in the hobby and helping customers. I’m from 4 hrs away but will stop there anytime I’m in St.Louis. Somehow I spent an hour there looking and talking. Came away with a rare and unique fish I’ve never seen before.

I got this beautiful male betta from here about a week and a half ago I believe. He is SO colorful. I was hoping they would have had more freshwater fish like this, but also, the name is literally “seascape” so of course it’s going to be a saltwater fish store, that was my fault😂. The workers were SO kind and helpful. They even gave me free baby brine. They don’t keep their bettas in those horrible tiny cups like some fish stores, therefore these bettas are happier (hense the beautiful colors). They have such gorgeous saltwater aquariums to the point that I would honestly go there just to stare at the tanks and fish. 10/10 would recommend for your saltwater tank needs!

Very dismissive if you are a female! I would be highly cautious listening to any advice this store has to offer. They are incompetent, disrespectful, and straight up dangerous to work with. They will talk down to you, dismiss you, and even call you crazy! If I could give 0 stars, I would.

The owner would not listen to me when I repeatedly told him there was an issue they caused with our tank. We had to have another company come in to confirm and they still would not own responsibility.

Great place! Only complaint is the pre-mixed saltwater. Got a few gallons and they all tested different salinity levels (33, 35, and 38 ppt). Honestly though, since it is only 99¢ a gallon it isn’t that big of a deal. Employees are great!

I extremely recommend this store!! The employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and just seem happy to help! All the fish are vibrant and thriving and kept in beautiful tanks with great conditions. They sell wet live rock which is an EXCELLENT price ($4.99/lb) with unique pieces. They also sell some pieces of macro algae and corals attached to rocks. It is obvious that the workers care for the animals and are not just there to be salespeople; the employees helped me pick out a hardy and cheap first fish for my tank!! They have a wide selection of everything from fish to a copious selection of corals and unique invertebrates (notably sea cucumbers, sponges, and feather duster worms). Their prices and quality are absolutely unbeatable. Please support this local business!!

I placed a custom order for an aquarium and stand. Was told by the owner the order could be canceled at anytime before going into production. When manufacturer caused unexpected problems, I canceled the sale. Owner then said custom orders could not be canceled, as stated on my receipt (it was not), and I could only use my four-figure purchase for store credit (also not stated on the receipt). After a one-month battle that included personal threats directed at me, I won my credit card dispute and got my money back. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE.

The owner was very friendly and engaging. Even with the phone ringing, he found more time to listen to me than my girlfriend ever seemed to find time to do... I appreciated that. Will be a returning customer for sure.
