ReefCo in New Brighton, Minnesota has carved out a dedicated following among the Twin Cities saltwater community. This is a shop that does one thing and does it well: reef aquariums. Walking in, you immediately notice the open, spacious layout — a refreshing contrast to the cramped, cluttered fish stores that dot the metro.
Tanks are arranged for easy browsing with clear pricing, and the coral frag tanks draw the most attention, stocked with a rotating selection that reviewers say keeps expanding between visits. The coral selection is the real draw here. Multiple customers report purchasing frags that are thriving months later, a testament to the health of the livestock and the care taken before it reaches your tank.
Beyond corals, ReefCo carries a solid lineup of marine fish — reviewers have picked up Firefish and other saltwater staples — along with anemones and invertebrates. They also sell RO water and premixed saltwater, a practical perk that keeps reefers coming back between livestock purchases. Used equipment is available too, something few specialty shops bother with.
The staff is where ReefCo really separates itself. Names like Malachi, Caleb, and owner Chad come up repeatedly in reviews. One customer drove all the way from Rochester just to pick their brains, and left without feeling pressured to buy a thing.
New reefers describe being walked through coral selections suited to their experience level, while seasoned hobbyists appreciate the depth of knowledge available. One reviewer summed it up perfectly: they left feeling more passionate about the hobby than when they walked in. Under relatively new ownership with Chad at the helm, the shop has been earning loyalty through competitive pricing, honest advice, and a genuine love for reefkeeping.
New shipments typically arrive on Fridays, so plan your visits accordingly. For saltwater aquarists in Minnesota, ReefCo is a destination worth the drive.

Has a great variety of coral and livestock that are well cared for. The manager there runs a tight shop and is a very good resource for tank knowledge. 10/10

Started a new tank, stocked my tank with fish only from this store and they have velvet. Such a nightmare. Shame on me for not QT’ing. But, if you’re a fish store and you know your fish have velvet you shouldn’t be selling that livestock.

The first time I came here, the space is spacious with many kinds of aquatic plants and fish for saltwater aquarium. Importantly, the price is very good and the service attitude is attentive... I will come back to choose some more corals and anemones for my aquarium.

I enjoy this store. I've witnessed their selection grow between visits. I've made multiple purchases (coral) and all are currently thriving. Oh yeah...the pricing is in the customer's favor.

Every time I’ve gone they have little to no fish, and the ones they do have are sick or straight up dead in the tanks. Cyano all over the place as well, I don’t want that introduced in my systems. There’s two frag tanks that are half full and the prices are crazy for coral, the fish prices aren’t bad though. Incredibly small dry goods section. The employees were constantly bugging me while I was looking around and felt very pressured to hurry up and buy something. A lot of wasted space and not much to buy.
