About
T&T Pet Food & Supply is a Bloomington, IN institution — a family-owned shop that has been part of the community for over 50 years, with longtime regulars like Alexis Pruitt who say they've been coming for 40. It's the kind of neighborhood store where, as one recent visitor put it, the staff "know everything," and where someone will happily leave the register to walk you down the aisles and carry your heavy bags out to the car. The store's real strength is its enormous selection of high-quality, filler-free dog and cat food, including harder-to-find lines like Earthborn Holistic and Fussie Cat.
Shoppers come in to solve specific problems — a pup with a "harsh food allergy," a cat that needs a gentler diet — and leave with a single-source-protein food or something from the homeopathic line that, as Stephanie Weatherall put it, "changed my pets' lives" (most recently yak chews for a new puppy). The team even tracks when shipments arrive, so you can see how long food has sat on the shelf, a transparency big-box retailers rarely offer. Though it's best known for food, T&T is "bigger than it looks" and stocks just about anything you'd find in a big-box store — treats, toys, locally made carpeted cat trees, animal-themed puzzles, and a corner of aquarium and fish-keeping basics, including fish food available in Bloomington, IN.
That full range makes it a genuinely local choice for fishkeepers and pet owners who would rather support a neighborhood fish and pet store than a chain. Owner David, Terry, and Leslie anchor a team praised again and again for being kind, patient, and deeply knowledgeable about ingredients, allergies, and dietary sensitivities. The shop hosts adoption cats and kittens with local rescues, keeps a famously indifferent mascot cat, runs a purchase-tracking rewards program, and gives back through events like the Stuff a Truck drive benefiting the Monroe County Humane Association.
This is Bloomington shopping at its best — personal, purposeful, and rooted in community.

— Ethan Bridges5.0a week ago“I ordered a 10 gallon starter kit which included plants and substrate. The plants weren’t labeled. The substrate stained my water a dark brown like ice tea. I sent pictures and questions to Father Fish and he didn’t have the decency to reply to my questions. Now I have to start all over. I’m sure my fish are stressed. I recommend going elsewhere. Father Fish is a huge disappointment.”
— Susan Wright1.02 weeks ago“Absolutely love this store they have hands down the best selection and best quality fish and plants on the eastern shore hands down and bryce and mr lou are always extremely helpful and patient with me as I constantly have a million questions but they never get frustrated with me it make me feel like I'm bothering them its a great place not only to buy fish but to bring kids to see cool animals they otherwise may not get to I would recommend this story any day of the week!!”
— Chris Simpson5.03 weeks ago“Wonderful experience! It has been almost 5 weeks since I bought two gouramis a fire red and a dwarf red honey, I wanted to wait to give a review until my boys had realistic time to adjust to their new homes and time to show their true personalities, with that said both of my boys have been amazing additions to my tank, both acclimated well and are very healthy, active fish. "Sunny" The honey swims gracefully towards the middle and back of tank , while "Kermit" the red has claimed the front of the tank he is a very comical fish who loves to be front and center. We will definitely continue to purchase from Father Fish, as I prefer to pay a little more for quality healthy fish than risk my entire tank just to save a buck or two for sick diseased fish, PetSmart charges $8.99 for 1 gourami, I paid 20 for each gourami however 98% of reviews from PetSmart state the fish has died within one day to one week so yes I paid 20$ but I've already had my boys for 5 weeks and they are still going strong while if I purchased from PetSmart there is a good chance I'd be on fish 10 (I bought two) so I would be $90 in wondering what I did wrong instead of $40 and getting to see the very active boys everyday! And please if you take anything from Lou (father fish) make sure you have lots and lots of plants!! Kermit and Sunny coexist very peacefully as when Kermit starts his antics Sunny reverts to his "kingdom" of plants in the middle and back. Update: went back to Father Fish on Friday May 22nd and ended up buying 12 ember tetras, I have never seen embers so bright! Even with an almost hour ride home they never lost any color which I totally expected as this is stressful for fish, however they never did these little guys are just as bright as when I bought them and all 12 are doing wonderful! This tells me they were extremely healthy, great quality fish to begin with! NEVER doubt buying fish from Father Fish you will not be disappointed in the quality you receive. Pictures are a little blurry of the embers but you still can not mistake the brightness of them 🌞”
