About
In Harahan, Louisiana, just outside New Orleans, Reef Consortium has earned a reputation as one of the best saltwater shops in the region — the kind of aquarium store reef-keepers happily drive hours to reach. Owner Chad and staff member Zoe (Zoey to regulars) run the place with a level of personal attention that comes up in nearly every review, whether it's a first-timer cycling a new tank or a veteran hunting a piece they've never seen before. The coral selection is the headline.
Tanks here are stocked with torches, hammers, frogspawn, zoas, acans, and full acropora colonies, ranging from affordable beginner frags to high-end collector pieces, all kept in clean, healthy systems. Marine fish, anemones, and an ever-growing invertebrate section round out the livestock, and the fish are pre-quarantined before they go up for sale. If you're searching for high-end coral frags or rare invertebrates for sale in Harahan, LA, this is a destination shop — one customer recently called it the best place in Jefferson Parish for corals and water, and another said it has the best saltwater fish and coral in the city.
What keeps people coming back is Chad's approach. He listens to your goals instead of talking down to you — one hobbyist spent two weeks overwhelmed by lighting choices for a FOWLR tank before Chad cut through the noise and dialed in the right setup. Another family drove in from Gulfport, Mississippi, and Chad remembered them from a visit a year earlier, then hand-drilled styrofoam bases so their corals could ride safely to a new home.
He'll walk you through cycling, coral placement, PAR levels, and water chemistry, and he's known for deals that make it hard to leave empty-handed. A solid dry goods and equipment section means you can grab lighting, test your parameters, and handle a water change in the same trip. For anyone serious about the reef hobby in southeast Louisiana, Reef Consortium pairs a deep, healthy inventory with genuine, hands-on guidance that regulars say they can't find anywhere else.

“I can't say enough good things about Reef Consortium and the owner, Chad. He is passionate about the hobby and truly dedicated to helping his customers succeed. Unlike many "experts" who talk down to people, Chad listened to my goals and gave honest, respectful advice. I spent two weeks researching new lights for my FOWLR tank and ended up completely overwhelmed. Chad cut through the noise, made excellent recommendations, and helped me make the right choice. My new lights look fantastic. Thanks, Chad—you’ve earned a loyal customer and a friend!”

A year later we traveled all the way from Gulfport, MS. Zoey was so honest and helpful when selecting corals, and made every person that walked in feel special. Chad remembered us from our last visit and was so grateful we were back. It was hands down our best visit to a coral and fish store. We are moving soon and Chad provided us with all the materials we would need to move and hand drilled the styrofoam bases we would need for each coral we had at home, for the move. After meeting us twice. Goes to show this is just a part of his character. Not to mention his corals are amazing quality, we spent so much time in the store trying to pick between the variety and excellent quality of each coral we bought. If I could give more stars I would. Thanks Reef Consortium!”
