About
Picasso Exotic Aquatics has built a devoted following across the Kansas City metro, and it's easy to see why the moment you step into this Lenexa, KS aquarium store. The showroom is spotlessly clean and well organized, the display tanks are gorgeous, and the livestock looks genuinely healthy — reviewers consistently single out the immaculate tanks and thriving fish, plants, and corals. Owners Clint and Courtney run the floor alongside a team that customers name again and again: Carl, Aiden, Khang, and Cameron are praised in review after review for patient, no-pressure guidance that makes both first-timers and seasoned hobbyists feel welcome.
The selection runs deep on both sides of the hobby. On the freshwater side you'll find live plants, cherry shrimp, bamboo shrimp, snails, and community fish, while saltwater keepers come for what many call the best coral selection in the KC area. Axolotls, corals, cherry shrimp, and freshwater and saltwater fish are available for sale in Lenexa, KS, along with hardscape and live plants for aquascaping, plus the dry goods, salt, and equipment to keep it all running.
Axolotl keepers in particular treat this as their go-to shop, leaving with detailed care guidance as well as the animals themselves. Beyond the sales floor, the team handles tank setup, custom aquarium and stand builds, ongoing tank maintenance, and water testing — they've serviced everything from private saltwater aquariums to a teacher's seven classroom tanks, and will even help you load a finished build. Prices run a little above the big-box stores, but customers say the livestock quality and expert advice are well worth it.
For anyone serious about the aquarium hobby in the Lenexa and greater Kansas City area, this is the local fish store where the conversation starts.

— Adam Johnson5.04 days ago“Very helpful and attentive staff”
— Camden Frye5.06 days ago“Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have a pretty good selection of fish. Their supplies and food are of reasonable prices. Let’s get down to the meat and potatoes though. The customer service here is unmatched. Khang Is remarkably polite, helpful, and dedicated to bringing a positive customer experience. Three of the staff spent what must’ve been 20 minutes trying to pull the green phantom Cleco out of the monster tank upfront. Khang Was soaked from head to toe, trying to get this sneaky little fish out of the bottom of the tank. He even maintained a positive attitude after the poor gal, helping him accidentally. Let it back out of the bag as soon as we finally had it captured. This was my first trip in, but I can already tell this place Is going to be at the top of my list.”
