About
Aqualinks is one of those locally owned fish shops in Ocala, Florida where the owner's passion is the whole operation. Customers consistently point to the owner—a veteran—as the heart of the store, someone who genuinely cares about every fish on the premises and will sit down with you to answer every question you have, no matter how many. He's been praised for helping customers cycle new tanks, select live plants, and understand the nuances of both freshwater and saltwater keeping.
The store carries a large variety of freshwater and saltwater fish along with corals and everyday aquarium supplies. Multiple reviewers note the sheer volume of livestock on hand, and the prices tend to be competitive with or better than big-chain pet stores in the area. The owner has a reputation for generosity—depending on what you're buying, he's been known to throw in a few extra fish for free, a small-business touch that keeps people coming back.
The atmosphere here is casual and personal rather than polished retail. This is a one-man shop where you walk in, have a real conversation, and leave with healthy fish and solid advice. Reviewers describe the owner as patient, polite, and deeply knowledgeable, the kind of person who will stay a few minutes past closing if you need help.
Several customers specifically mention that the fish they've purchased here are healthier than what they've found at larger chain stores. There are some mixed opinions about tank cleanliness—one reviewer found the displays lacking—but the majority of customers see a store that's well-maintained and cared for. For Ocala hobbyists looking to support a local business with real expertise behind the counter, Aqualinks delivers on both selection and personal service.
The owner's willingness to educate and his genuine enthusiasm for the hobby make every visit feel more like a conversation with a fellow fishkeeper than a retail transaction.

— Maria Nelson5.0Edited 8 months ago“This place has a ton of fish, but the tanks look gross and dirty. An old man was sitting in a reclining lawn chair the whole time we were inside, never offered to help us , just sat on his phone. It smells dirty and you feel gross after leaving. I gave 2 stars because he does have a lot of fish. Would not buy from here.”
