About
Tropical Treasures LLC is a small, owner-run aquarium store in Colorado Springs, CO, where Nathan — Nate to the regulars — has built a reputation as one of the city's most knowledgeable fishkeepers. Run almost single-handedly, the shop earns its loyalty on two things: the health of its livestock and the honesty of its advice. Customers routinely report never losing a fish bought here, from $10 community species to $85 cichlids, and Nate is known for talking people out of purchases they don't actually need rather than upselling.
Cichlids are the headline. Reviewer after reviewer calls this the best African cichlid selection in the entire city, so if you're hunting African cichlids for sale in Colorado Springs, CO, this is the shop locals name first. " There are stunning oversized plecos worth a trip just to look at, axolotls, plus duckweed and aquascaping hardscape for planted builds.
You'll also find fish food, filters, heaters, sand, used tanks at fair prices, fish medication, and RO water for your aquarium available in Colorado Springs, CO. Nate's expertise extends well past the counter. He sets up new tanks, walks first-timers through reef and freshwater builds, and performs in-home maintenance — many customers have him service their aquariums monthly, keeping everything from 70- and 150-gallon setups to clinic tanks pristine.
He's also happy to test water, balance pH, and take in unwanted fish to rehome at no charge. The space is tight and parking sits on a busy street, and catching Nate while he's tending tanks can take a minute, but for healthy stock and real, unhurried guidance, this independent fish store remains a Colorado Springs favorite worth the trip.

— Kyle Gunn5.0a month ago“I am so grateful to have found Tropical Treasures! I can't believe Nate runs this entire store by himself! Not only does he keep all of the aquatic life healthy and thriving, he also provides other animal services as well. Every time I go into the store he is taking care of the aquariums. With that being said, I can't believe the time and patience he took out several times to guide me in proper care for my fish and tank care. He even gave me a used heater for free and some fish medication when my Angel fell ill. Nate is a fantastic person and the service he provides is like no other- or at least very rare!! This man will do everything he can to help you or point you in the right direction. What a pleasure to do business with treasure!!”
