Bermuda Aquatics Exotic Fish & Ponds in Ventura, California, operates with the kind of conviction you rarely see in the aquarium trade anymore. Owner Dylan and his team breed their own fish on-site, quarantine all incoming stock, and require customers to bring in water samples before purchasing new additions. That last detail alone tells you everything about their philosophy: the health of the animal comes first, the sale comes second.
The store carries a solid range of both freshwater and saltwater fish, corals, and a particularly well-regarded selection of aquatic plants that draws in planted-tank enthusiasts from across the area. Guppies, cory catfish, frogs, and other community favorites share space with saltwater display tanks that showcase what's possible with the right setup. The dry goods selection rounds things out for those building or maintaining their systems.
What sets Bermuda apart is the depth of service. Dylan has personally assembled and installed custom tank setups for customers, provided in-home instruction on cleaning and care, and even offers regular maintenance visits on a bimonthly schedule. One customer recounted how Dylan and his team came out on a Sunday evening, after hours, to rescue a fish that had choked on a cory catfish barb — arriving and resolving the emergency within fifteen minutes.
That's not just customer service; that's genuine devotion. The shop itself has an old-school local fish store feel — compact, unpretentious, and clearly run by people who spend their days thinking about fish. They're in the midst of expanding and adding more tanks, which suggests even more variety ahead.
Staff routinely spend an hour or more walking customers through options, cycling protocols, and compatibility questions without any pressure to buy. For Ventura residents setting up their first freshwater tank or seasoned hobbyists looking for healthy, quarantined saltwater stock and knowledgeable conversation, Bermuda Aquatics is the kind of shop that earns loyalty visit after visit.

We have recently become customers of Bermuda after our son got a tank for Christmas. We wanted to do it right and get max longevity out of this experience/hobby for him. After doing a little research online regarding starting up a fresh water tank, we came across Bermudas info and rave reviews. They have far exceeded any expectations. They truly care about the integrity of the environment they rehome their fish to, requiring water samples brought in each time you want to purchase a new fish to ensure your tank is at the right level to welcome home a new addition and is beneficial to the fishes overall health. We have learned so much already just in a couple of visits and are so grateful to be doing it right. Even if you’re not a fish tank owner, we highly recommend checking them out. Their fish options whether it be freshwater or salt water and display tanks are awesome.

My two creatures are living happily in my tank. It’s been almost a month & they are still thriving. It was my first time there. I was treated respectfully.

Can someone please assist me in resolving this issue? I’m trying to find answers for my friend's concerns. She reached out to the owners of Bermuda Aquatics Exotic Fish & Ponds but hasn't received a satisfactory solution to the underlying problem. After reviewing the text exchanges between her and the gentleman, it became clear to both me and another individual that this situation is unacceptable. Sadly, some of her fish have died, and this specific tank is the only one that appears cloudy or dirty, even after it was professionally cleaned—out of the three she owns. My disabled friend purchased a “new” fish tank from this store, but it arrived broken, as shown in picture A. The tank was missing a lid and contained used parts. Additionally, play sand was added to this tank and another one my friend already owned, where some of her fish sadly died. She has spent around $800 (or more) for this broken, topless tank, the play sand, and a few other items, but after searching online, I couldn't find any justification for this high cost. Moreover, my partner (whom I had read over the messages for support) and I are quite shocked by the inconsistency and delays in communication from the sellers, Dylan and Angel. One crucial response took a month to arrive after they promised to follow up quickly, while other replies had gaps of a couple of weeks. Is this really acceptable? My friend has never asked for free equipment or products; she takes exceptional care of her animals and is genuinely grateful, gentle, and kind. Does this treatment seem like ethical business practice? I really need answers because it's heartbreaking to see her treated this way. I understand that providing assistance at her home requires time and effort, but it's essential for a business to communicate any additional costs, whether in writing or verbally. As for communication, it should be the bare minimum. Following through on promises is crucial in business. The way my friend has been treated is NOT acceptable. It simply isn’t.
