Tucked into a Torrance strip with easy parking, Golden Guppy Aquarium has quickly earned a devoted South Bay following thanks to owner Cody and staff members Andrew and Steve, who bring genuine passion and deep knowledge to every customer interaction. The shop is compact but meticulously maintained — reviewers consistently call it one of the cleanest fish stores they've visited, with crystal-clear tanks and visibly healthy livestock. The focus here is freshwater, with a rotating selection that includes cichlids, koi, bettas, caridina shrimp, and a variety of tropical community fish.
They also carry marine livestock sourced from sustainable, quality suppliers, and there's even a charming mini indoor pond inside the store. If something isn't in stock, the team will happily order it from their wholesaler and call you within days when it arrives — multiple customers have praised this personalized service. Plants are a strong draw.
Staff will walk you through care requirements, growth expectations, and which species suit your particular setup. The hardscape selection rounds things out for aquascapers looking to build a complete planted tank. Beyond livestock, Golden Guppy stocks aquarium supplies, accessories, and even some dog and cat products, making it a practical one-stop for pet owners in the area.
Pricing comes up again and again in reviews as surprisingly fair, and a customer rewards program sweetens repeat visits. The shop maintains an active social media presence, posting daily livestock updates and fielding questions through DMs — a modern touch that keeps regulars informed and engaged. The energy inside is relaxed and welcoming.
Staff take their time with each customer, whether you're rebuilding a tank after a crash or choosing your first betta. One reviewer drove 45 minutes just to browse, and several have declared it the best shop in the South Bay. For Torrance fish keepers tired of big-box stores, Golden Guppy offers something meaningfully different: real expertise, healthy animals, and a neighborhood shop that genuinely cares about the hobby.

Probably the cleanest/nicest setup in the southbay. They're pretty chill, you can ask for plants/fish and will let you know when they expect it to arrive will say wish they had a larger selection of plants, but that's more a spacing issue (store is relatively small), hope they become sucessfull enough to get a larger store!

Great guys. Shop is clean. Tanks are clean. I ordered some fish twice that they didn't have in and three days later, they called me with the fish.
