About

Tucked behind a Togo's in Santa Clara, Infinite Aquarium has quietly become one of the South Bay's most beloved freshwater fish stores. Owner Jimmy and longtime staffers Steven and Ryan run a shop where regulars know the team by name, and reviewers keep coming back for the kind of patient, knowledgeable help that's hard to find — several happily make the hour-plus drive to shop here. The livestock list runs deep for a store this size.

You'll find healthy pea puffers, harlequin rasboras, guppies and other livebearers, tetras, and the occasional showpiece like the giant pleco that recently drew onlookers at the display tanks. Shrimp keepers have plenty to choose from, with cherry shrimp in several color morphs and crystal red shrimp regularly in stock. If you're hunting something less common — assassin snails, freshwater gobies, or unusual cichlids — there's a good chance Infinite Aquarium has it.

High-quality bettas for sale in Santa Clara, CA are another longtime draw, going well beyond what chain stores carry. Plants are a genuine specialty. The aquatic plants are sold submerged-grown for faster acclimatization, and customers credit their lush aquascapes to stock sourced here — often at prices that beat what you'd pay elsewhere.

The shop rounds things out with hardscape rocks sold by the pound, driftwood, gravel and soil, fish food, and Aquarium Co-op gear, plus affordable RODI water for water-change day. What ties it all together is the service. Staff will test your water parameters, talk through stocking, and steer first-time keepers toward hardy choices that survive the move home.

The display aquariums are stunning and double as aquascaping inspiration the moment you walk in. For Bay Area hobbyists who want quality freshwater fish and plants available in Santa Clara, CA from people who genuinely love the hobby, this neighborhood fish store remains a real community cornerstone.

  • “Knowledgable owner, selection was decent!”

  • “I highly recommend you to buy from this amazing pet store. Their stocks of fish are very large than most stores. The tanks were very clean. I also bought two pea puffer fish which were very healthy. They have lot's of fish tanks, on display to help you learn different aquascaping for your tank.”

  • “Dropped in to take a look at the fish when I was in the area. Very nice and spacious store! Was not greeted even though there were multiple employees longing on their phones. Really cool selection of fish, including a giant pleco that was fun to watch! Was not super impressed with the husbandry in general though — there were a good number of dead livebearer fish, some guppies that had been forgotten about and left to float in a bag the entire time I was there (over 45 minutes), and multiple dying khuli loaches laying on their sides :( the space is lovely and there’s some cool fish, would just love it if the staff could be more attentive and take better care of the livestock there.”

  • “Very limited and poor quality stock. Two of the fish they pawned off on me most shops would have separated as unsalable. Get a receipt.”
