Tucked into Rialto, California, KMA Aquatic Pets has built a loyal following since its grand opening — the kind of store where customers drive 45 minutes just to browse the tanks. The shop stocks both freshwater and saltwater varieties, though its real strength lies on the freshwater side, with a colorful, well-maintained selection that reviewers consistently describe as healthy and diverse. From bettas and puffers (one thrilled customer scored an avocado puffer) to shrimp, crawfish, and exotic species, the livestock variety punches well above what you'd expect from a local shop in the Inland Empire.
Live plants and hardscape materials get serious shelf space here. Driftwood pieces at fair prices and a solid plant selection make KMA a worthwhile stop for planted tank enthusiasts. Corals are available too, though the saltwater inventory is more limited — freshwater is clearly where KMA shines brightest.
What sets this store apart is the staff, particularly Rick and Lenny, whose names come up again and again in reviews. Rick has a reputation for walking first-time fishkeepers through entire tank setups — from cycling questions to stocking recommendations — without pushing unnecessary products. He'll match fish temperaments to shared tanks, stay within your budget, and genuinely educate along the way.
Lenny brings personality and humor that makes the shopping experience feel more like visiting a friend's fish room than a retail transaction. The store is clean and well-organized, with tanks that reflect genuine care for the animals. Prices are consistently called fair or better, and the selection of supplies and accessories rounds out the experience so you can leave with everything you need in one trip.
Weekends get crowded, so weekday visits are recommended if you want more one-on-one time with staff. For freshwater hobbyists in the Rialto area and beyond, KMA Aquatic Pets delivers healthy fish, honest advice, and a shopping experience that keeps people coming back.

Needed lots of help to set up a 10 gallon fish tank, had tons of questions, and they were all answered. My setup is now complete and my fish and frogs are very happy.

FOR SALTWATER PEOPLE, don’t waste youre time. They’re instant ocean saltwater tested at 6.2 alk, .12 phosphate (thats INSANE!) and 4.2 nitrates. RO/DI water at 22 ppm! That resin filter is EXTREMELY EXHAUSTED. With a whole bunch of sediment sitting at the bottom of my jug now. This place has 0 good saltwater fish, I mean 0, literal just fire fish and some damsels, w/ a laughable “coral/softy” tank with a LITERAL blue light strip from Amazon… JUST STAY AWAY YALL.. I WILL NEVER BE BACK

Great, awesome staff—super knowledgeable and friendly. I’m new to this hobby, and Lenny and Rick make it fun and as stress-free as possible. They have a great selection of fish, plants, and accessories. I’ve got two setups from them now and couldn’t be happier! Highly recommend taking a stroll down to KMA!

Bought a plant from here didn’t like how he bagged it in a small baggy with my leafs sticking out from the top it needed a much larger bag not sure why it was put in such a small bag, it also needs to be tied up so it locks in the moisture by the time I got home several of the leafs were thinning out and dried up on me, you have to keep aquatic plants moist otherwise they’ll die plus the weather being in the triple digits calls for it hopefully he gets his aquatic plant knowledge up this is something that should be addressed. I don’t think I will be getting any more aquatic plants from here and risk it dying on me on the way back home. If you can’t handle criticism to help improve your business then maybe this ain’t the right line of work for you if you’re soo easily offended to get in you’re feelings, write bad reviews at all businesses I shop at???? Lol I just write honest reviews on my experience that’s the whole purpose of having the option to write a review come on now I know you ain’t that dense in the head the fact that you took the time to try and make it seem like I’m in the wrong makes you look bad and makes you loose all credibility/immature and the review is still up it didn’t get taken down “EUGENE” take the criticism and learn from this to improve how you deal with certain items this is to help you improve your business, don’t let your personal feelings effect how you present yourself as a business owner doesn’t make you look good, this went from a 2 star to a 1 star review congrats, glad I was able to teach you something.
