About

Three Little Fish has been a family-owned fixture in Lancaster, California for nearly two decades, serving as the Antelope Valley's go-to destination for both freshwater and saltwater aquarium enthusiasts. The shop stocks a broad range of livestock — from golden honey gouramis and telescope goldfish to neocaridina shrimp in red rill, blue velvet, cherry, and yellow varieties. Saltwater hobbyists will find corals alongside their marine fish selection, and freshwater plant enthusiasts can browse live plants for their planted tanks.

The store doubles as a multi-pet destination, carrying exotic birds, reptiles, snakes, and even spiders alongside its aquatic inventory. Staff members like Francisco, Mike, and Javier earn frequent praise for their aquarium knowledge — Francisco in particular is cited for his deep expertise in fish care and aquarium setup advice. The team has helped customers troubleshoot sick goldfish, recommend proper medications, and guide first-time fishkeepers through the basics with genuine patience.

Tanks throughout the shop are consistently described as crystal clear, and the overall atmosphere is laid back and homey, with some of the family's personal pets adding character. Pricing runs on the higher side compared to big-box alternatives, but customers note competitive deals on tanks, live pets, and food. Medications are reasonably priced — one reviewer spent just $14 on treatment for a 15-year-old goldfish and walked away impressed.

The shrimp selection deserves special mention. One customer purchased four varieties of neocaridinas ranging from babies to adults, all of which thrived past the critical first week. That kind of livestock quality keeps hobbyists coming back.

Three Little Fish isn't without its critics — some reviewers have raised concerns about animal health and return policies — but the store's longevity, knowledgeable staff, and status as essentially the only dedicated fish shop in the Lancaster area make it a meaningful resource for the local aquarium community. For Antelope Valley residents tired of driving to LA or ordering online, it's worth the visit.

  • “This is a great pet store to visit because they have supplies and live pets including exotic birds, snakes and even spiders. All things freshwater and saltwater available here. Every time I've needed assistance they have come over very friendly and polite. Seems family owned with a laid back atmosphere and some personal pets as well that just give it a homey touch. Tanks are always clean n the staff is quite knowledgeable about the fish which is so helpful. Definitely recommend to the community.”

  • “The shop was very well kept, smelt very clean and all the animals look taken care of. It's definitely really pricey compared to other reptile shops out here but they do have a wild variety of different aquatic creatures. The location is pretty unsafe so I would only go early in the morning or at least day light hours. Comments with the staff is that when they communicate with you it feels transactional rather than creating a good connection like other reptile stores I've been too. I would recommend this store only for super fancy fish and fish tanks, reptiles you can go somewhere else.”

  • “This place was different a go to. I came for neocaridinas and found them. They had a lot of verity from baby to adult. I got 4 of each a red rill, blue velvet, a cherry, and a yellow shrimp to start my tank off and see if they would survive with the right conditions before getting more. They made it past a week, and that was perfect. They are living and thriving. I do plan on going back for these little guys they are perfect. Definitely recommend.”

  • “I bought 2 fish tank lights, same lights, boxes had different items, missing items ect.. when I finally got twin sets after going back 3 times, one of my lights fell in the water while messing with the original plug I had to exchange for. Irritated. $40 and a gang of gas wasted. Not many to choose from out here but maybe order fish products on line.. smh”

  • “Sick and injured fish in almost every tank. Saw a turtle in a dark little corner with no light at all. I stood there for a bit to see if it moved. It never did it might have been dead. Genuinely depressing I dont think I'll come back.”

  • “I always love coming here. Great selection of not only saltwater and freshwater fish, freshwater plants, coral, but birds, snakes, and reptiles too. I'm always excited to see what they have in stock fish wise and they have some really great prices on tanks. If you like aquariums, reptiles, or birds I really recommend coming here and supporting this local business.”
