About
CK Fish World — the Lakewood, CA aquarium store that took over the space longtime hobbyists knew as Strictly Fish — has quickly become one of the most talked-about shops in the area under its new owners. Reviewers describe a store that's been completely revitalized: freshly remodeled, spotlessly clean, and easy to navigate, with rows of well-organized tanks that make it simple to spot exactly what you came for. " The selection runs deep on both sides of the hobby.
Freshwater shoppers find cichlids, angelfish, bettas, shrimp, livebearers, tetras, and goldfish — including shubunkins for pond and coldwater setups — plus a wall of aquatic plants and aquascaping hardscape for building out a scape. The new ownership leans even harder into saltwater than before, with reef coral and saltwater fish for sale in Lakewood, CA alongside the gear to support them. Searching for angelfish or saltwater coral near me?
This is a genuine one-stop aquarium store. Staff are a recurring highlight. Peter, Aaron, Nick, and Fernando get named for patiently walking newcomers through setups, water questions, and livestock choices — one shopper credited Fernando with helping pick out thriving shubunkins and a UV clarifier that cleared a stubborn pond.
The shop also quarantines its stock, which several visitors noted is rare among local fish stores. You'll still be greeted by the friendly resident lab, a holdover that keeps the relaxed, family-run feel intact. Beyond livestock, CK Fish World carries fish food, Fluval parts, tanks, and a broad range of supplies for freshwater and saltwater keepers alike.
With a fresh remodel, knowledgeable staff, and one of the widest fish selections around, this Lakewood aquarium store has reintroduced itself as a destination worth the drive.

“Plants that I purchased had hydra and pest snails. Just be cautious when purchasing any from here.”

— Kelly Nguyen5.03 weeks ago“Been coming here for years. Name and owners have changed. Today was the first time I’ve come since the change and it was the worst customer service experience I have experienced in an aquarium store. I walked in so excited to see the new inside and saw a cute lab dog. My first instinct was to ask if it’s friendly because I had all my four kids with me. This guy says “of course it’s friendly or else it wouldn’t be out here like this.” SUPER SARCASTIC AND PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE! I was so shocked! The previous owners NEVER spoke like that! Idk if they were mad that we came 15 min before close, but that’s no excuse to talk to customers like that. It’s your damn job!!! If it weren’t for my husband, I would have left immediately and not given a dime to this rude man!!! I would never go back somewhere where I feel disrespected! I don’t care how fancy it is on the inside! 0 stars!”
— Karen Flores Velazquez1.04 weeks ago“So clean, so organized, and what an awesome selection! I’ve been searching for plants for my freshwater pond and I went to so many other places and couldn’t find anything I wanted. This was my last try before giving up and ordering online. I also got a uv clarifier which cleared my algae right up, and after speaking with their staff I brought home Cali, Lilly, and Penny (shubunkins). The fish are thriving, my water is clear, and the plants are doing great! Thank you Fernando!”
— Morgan Gomes5.0a month ago“We love the CK fish store in Covina. We were excited when one opened closer to home. Sadly, we were pretty disappointed. So many dead fish. For example, there was a tank with a ton of female bettas. All of them were sick. Lots of others had multiple dead and unhealthy fish in them. Really hope to see improvements soon because I love the West Covina store so much, but for now I’m not comfortable buying fish from stores that have so much dead and dying stock.”
— Maybe Forgetful3.0a month ago“Excellent family run store! lots of fish, shrimp plants, and equipment. Freshwater and Saltwater enthusiasts will love this store! Friendly, fast service and good pricing.”
