About
Wings Tails & Fins is a family-run pet and aquarium store tucked into downtown Pulaski, VA, with easy street parking and a loyal following that stretches across the New River Valley. The name nods to its full range — birds, reptiles, and fish — but for aquarium keepers it's the small-town shop that quietly punches above its weight. The fish room spans both freshwater and saltwater, with live aquarium plants rounding out the tanks.
Regulars describe clean, well-kept aquariums and healthy stock, and the shop's listing specifically calls out beginner-friendly marine options for anyone curious about their first saltwater setup. You'll find freshwater fish for sale in Pulaski, VA alongside live plants and saltwater selections, and if a particular fish isn't on hand, the owners are known for special-ordering it rather than pushing a quick sale. One longtime reviewer praised being guided to a better-suited alternative when their first pick was out of stock — the kind of honest, hands-on advice that defines the place.
That guidance is the throughline in the newest reviews. Edward Coe called it "one of my favorite stores in the New River Valley," crediting staff who are "incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and personable" and who take the time to make sure a fish, bird, or reptile is the right fit — even for first-time owners. " Beyond the tanks, Wings Tails & Fins stocks cockatiels, parakeets, and macaws, plus snakes, lizards, rabbits, ferrets, hedgehogs, and the feeder insects and supplies that go with them.
For aquarium hobbyists near Pulaski who would rather buy fish in person from people who genuinely know their livestock, this is the independent shop no big-box chain can replicate.

— Sandra Brewster5.02 months ago“I get insects for my bearded dragon here. They are very nice and very knowledgeable about what they sell. Fish , birds, lizards. Food and accessories. Reasonably priced and easy access to the store with street parking.”
— Laurissa Eller5.03 months ago“They are incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and personable. I learned so much just by going in and talking with them. Even though I don't feel ready to own (and take care of) one of their incredible creatures, they still treated me just like any other customer. If you're considering buying a pet (especially a bird, fish, or reptile), I highly recommend coming here even if it's a bit further away than the chain stores. It's worth it both for you *and* your pet. They'll make sure your new friend is the right fit for you, and explain why you might not be the right fit for one of the ones that sound fun on paper, especially if you're a first-time owner (see: cockatoos...). This is one of my favorite stores in the New River Valley—full stop.”

— Robin Porter3.03 months ago“Went to try and get snails and a few fish for my son and they had closed an hour before closing time. This is the second time I have tried to support local and they have been closed when the hours say 12 to 6pm Tuesday threw Saturday very disappointing”
— Joseph Penn2.05 months ago“The lady was pleasant to deal with when I bought a breeding pair of cockatiel few weeks ago. It was such a pleasant first time experience there. However the husband was very off putting. I was hoping to buy another bird. There was an object blocking the way so I politely asked if I can move it over just a bit so I can see the bird a little better and got the nastiest attitude from him. Even though i could find a better deal I wanted to support the business because of my first experience there. Needless to say I decided to buy elsewhere.”
