## About

Jay's Jungle has been a Provo fixture for decades — some customers remember shopping here thirty years ago — and it's built a loyal following largely on the strength of its freshwater fish department. Reviewers consistently single out the aquarium section as a standout, with one longtime fishkeeper calling it "the best store for fishkeeping in Utah County." The selection runs deep, featuring species that multiple customers say they've never encountered at other local shops, including rare morphs alongside everyday community fish like goldfish and tetras. Live aquarium plants are also available, and the pricing across fish and aquarium supplies draws frequent praise for undercutting both chain pet stores and other independent shops in the area.

The store itself is bigger than it looks from the outside, packed floor to ceiling with animals and supplies. Beyond fish, Jay's Jungle stocks reptiles, birds, small mammals, invertebrates like jumping spiders, and feeder insects including crickets, mealworms, and fruit fly cultures that one customer called the best they'd ever purchased. It's a true multi-species pet shop with an old-school, independent feel — no corporate polish, just dense inventory and competitive prices.

Staff interactions are generally positive, with many reviewers noting quick, knowledgeable help when shopping for fish or supplies. The store's freshwater fish quality, in particular, gets high marks from aquarists who've compared them to big-box alternatives and found Jay's animals healthier and more vibrant.

It's worth noting that the reptile side of the business draws significant criticism. Multiple reviewers have raised concerns about enclosure sizes, lighting, and the condition of leopard geckos, ball pythons, and axolotls. This is a recurring theme that prospective reptile buyers should be aware of.

For freshwater fishkeepers in Provo and greater Utah County, though, Jay's Jungle offers a combination of variety, fair pricing, and local expertise that's hard to match. The aquarium section alone makes it worth the trip.

> Really knowledgeable and helpful staff that made sure I got what I needed in a quick manner. Better pricing for crickets than our normal store

**"Austin Dotson"** - 1/5 - a month ago
> Take care of your reptiles. Really?? Is it that hard to look up a YouTube video on what they need. This leopard gecko is probably dead by now. Also you put like 4 crested geckos in an undersized tank.

**"Ser Snow"** - 1/5 - 2 months ago
> Decent people, non ideal conditions for leopard geckos, and axolotls.
Would go back if they pay more attention to what they can properly care for.

**"G"** - 1/5 - 2 months ago
> The Axolotls are missing limbs, leopard geckos are malnourished. It made me sick to see so many helpless animals mistreated, and then being sold to unsuspecting customers.

**"Evan Christensen"** - 5/5 - 2 months ago
> Pretty good.

**"David Gervic"** - 5/5 - 2 months ago
> This place will surprise you! First the store is huge inside with one of the best varieties of animals. Supplies prices are the normal, but pet prices are the best! Very fear prices and great inventory. Totally recommended.
