## About

Oasis Aquatics in Santa Fe, New Mexico is a pond-focused shop that caters to the unique needs of outdoor water feature enthusiasts in the high desert. Run by Chris and a small, dedicated crew, the store stocks pond liners (cut to custom sizes), pond maintenance supplies, aquatic plants, and fish including koi and shubunkins. It's a niche operation — more pond supply house than traditional fish store — and it fills a real gap in a city where maintaining an outdoor pond through Santa Fe's freeze-thaw winters requires specific local knowledge.

The shop is tucked away and easy to miss, but customers who find it generally praise the staff's willingness to go above and beyond. One reviewer recounted how a staff member stayed late after hours to help with an urgent pond need. Another highlighted same-day delivery of a custom-cut pool liner. For first-time pond owners navigating water chemistry and fish health in New Mexico's arid climate, the team has built a reputation for patient, detailed answers.

The inventory leans heavily toward pond products — liners, pumps, filtration equipment, water treatments, fish food, and seasonal aquatic plants like irises. They also carry pool maintenance items and fountain supplies. Services extend to pond cleaning and on-site consultations, though it's worth noting that their scope is specifically water features — not electrical or masonry work.

Pricing is a sticking point for some longtime customers, with a few reviews noting that supplies and koi can run higher than online competitors. And like any small operation, experiences aren't universally glowing — a couple of reviewers have raised concerns about plant advice and consultation fees. But for Santa Fe pond keepers who value in-person expertise and local availability of specialized products, Oasis Aquatics remains one of the only dedicated options in the area. The store is clean, intuitively organized, and staffed by people who genuinely know their inventory inside and out.

> In the fall I purchased a new collection of fish and some aquatic plants for my newly rebuilt small pond from here. From the limited supply of aquatic plants they had at the time, I specifically asked for plants I could put in the pond then that would survive the winter. They sold me some irises and another potted plant I was assured would be fine through the winter. I located it in the pond in the same way and water depth they had outside at their store. It did not survive the winter and now when I brought it back to return they offered no compensation whatsoever for completely misleading me and with information different about how it should have been in the bottom of the pond then when they sold me the plant. This business is overpriced and dishonest. They don’t seem to care much about return customers. I don’t recommend this place for your pond supplies.

> Service request was a scam:
Called about getting new wiring and masonry for my yard fountain. Sent pics and explanation of electrician needs and work needed. The owner(?) asked to come by and see it to see if it's something he could do. He shows up and in about 15 minutes says he doesn't do any electrical or masonry. Only "cleaning". He then tells me I owe him a consult fee of $45. I obviously ask him why since he didn't tell me ahead of time there would be a fee, and since he could have just told me over the phone that he doesn't do what I requested. He then says he will do.me a favor and cut the $90 consult fee in half to $45 since he won't be doing any work. So I cut him a check, and told him it's unethical to ask to visit then surprise with a fee, and asked him to not come back to the property.

This is a scam and not how we do business where I'm from. So I guess get everything in writing before having them even give you an estimate for work.
