Wet World has been a fixture in Eagan, Minnesota for over two decades, and the store's longevity speaks to something real — a family-run operation where the owner and his son August share an infectious enthusiasm for the hobby. Walking in, you'll find the space packed floor to ceiling with tanks, equipment, and aquascaping materials. It's cluttered in the way only a true fish store can be — every corner holds something worth discovering, from live rock for saltwater setups to freshwater plants and a rotating coral selection that has impressed reef keepers enough to earn half-price deals on premium frags.
The freshwater side is where Wet World really shines for volume. They stock a solid variety of fish, offer a two-week guarantee on freshwater purchases, and carry Amano shrimp, goldfish, and other community favorites. On the saltwater end, they'll help you dial in a 10-gallon nano reef or maintain a full sump system — one customer drove an hour just to pick up a bulk nut for their sump and left with live rock and a bucket (no lid, though).
The store even keeps a quarter-century-old clownfish that's become something of a local legend. Staff members like Josh and Mason earn consistent praise for their patience and willingness to walk newcomers through every facet of fishkeeping, from tank cycling to stocking compatibility. The owner himself has been described as a wealth of knowledge, happy to spend real time troubleshooting issues or guiding someone through their first setup.
One visitor stopped in by chance for advice on accidental axolotls and left wishing they lived closer. Wet World isn't without its rough edges — some tanks run small, labeling can be inconsistent, and a few visitors have encountered cleanliness issues or difficulty finding staff. But for the Eagan aquarium community, this is the kind of independent shop people drive past big-box stores to reach, and for good reason.
The expertise is genuine, the selection of freshwater and saltwater livestock is broad, and custom installations round out the full-service offering.

Despite the hate he gets he has great selection of coral and gave me a 80 dollar coral for 40 bucks and let me handle his boa constricter for sale and it was super friendly

Stopped here by chance, needing advice for my recently-adopted accidental axolotls. Very helpful and knowledgeable, wish I lived nearby!

I didn’t get another picture because I didn’t think to. But, my boyfriend and I visited this shop to look around for a potential pet and we stopped by this tank that had two cute goldfish inside. At first, I thought the white fuzz around its fins were normal until I saw its eyes and noticed that it was no doubt, infected. Not only was this one infected but the other one that shared the tank was as well. As I examined the tank further, I realized that there were not one, not two, but THREE dead goldfish floating at the top. You could tell that each fish corpse was decomposing at different times because one of them, I’m assuming was the first to die, was completely covered in mold. Not fish anymore, just a pile of floating mold on fish bones. After seeing that both my boyfriend and I decided that this was not the place for us. Just beware of the treatment of these fish before you buy them because they might end up being infected.

I love Wet World! The staff is just so knowledgeable and kind overall! The different varieties of fish are great along with the different accessories available for your tank. I will always support a local business when they provide the service that Wet World does. Love the new rock I just bought!!!

Best fish store in Minnesota from the wide variety of fish to the many plants and aquascaping materials. Might even be the best in the country.

No customer service. I have been at this store to shop and ask questions and I have either been ignored or no one was present to assist.
