## About

Stingray Bay in Eastpointe, Michigan has earned a devoted following among metro Detroit fishkeepers, and the reason is straightforward: owner Greg and his staff genuinely care about the health of their livestock. Multiple reviewers note the shop's strict quarantine policy — new inventory doesn't hit the sales floor until it's been properly held and observed. Greg has even turned away sales, advising eager saltwater hobbyists to wait until their tanks have fully cycled before adding fish. That kind of integrity builds loyalty.

The saltwater selection is what draws many customers from across Michigan. Reviewers rave about the variety of marine fish — tangs, coral beauties, sweetlips, clownfish, and invertebrates rotate through clean, well-maintained display tanks. One longtime customer calls it the best saltwater variety of any store in the state. They also stock live sand, live rock, and live saltwater, making it a one-stop resource for anyone setting up a reef system. Freshwater hobbyists will find a solid selection too, including hard-to-source items like blackworms, plus live plants, driftwood, slate, and rock for aquascaping.

Beyond fish, Stingray Bay carries reptiles, axolotls, corals, and a full range of aquarium supplies — rimless tanks, filtration equipment, fresh and frozen foods, and test kits. Reviewers consistently note the competitive pricing, especially on livestock, with some calling it the lowest they've found in the area.

The staff's willingness to educate stands out. Whether it's Janet greeting first-timers at the front counter and building their confidence, or Greg walking someone through what went wrong with a sick fish and how to fix it, the shop operates more like a community resource than a retail outlet. The tanks are clean, the livestock is thriving, and the knowledge flows freely. For fishkeepers in southeastern Michigan, Stingray Bay has become the kind of local shop people drive well out of their way to visit — and keep coming back to for years.

> Stingray Bay is the epitome of the local mom & pop shop. Greg and his staff are absolutely the best! Their live stock is always healthy when I visit, which is very frequently. Unlike other places, they absolutely will not sell new inventory until after a quarantine period. If you have an issue with your fish, they'll help you figure out what went wrong, how it went wrong, and what to do about it. They have a decent selection of freshwater and saltwater. I can't sing enough praises for this place.
