## About

Tucked away in Naperville, Illinois, Blue Line Coral has built a loyal following among saltwater hobbyists with its focused approach: affordable corals, honest expertise, and a no-frills shopping experience. This is a smaller specialty shop, not a big-box pet store, and that's precisely its appeal. Owner Dan has earned a reputation as a seasoned professional who genuinely enjoys fielding questions about reef tank setups, coral care, and saltwater aquarium husbandry.

The store's coral collection draws consistent praise from customers who appreciate both the variety and the pricing. For reef keepers who've felt the sting of losing a pricey coral to a tank mishap, Blue Line offers a refreshing alternative — quality pieces at prices that won't devastate your wallet if something goes wrong. Multiple reviewers highlight the fair pricing as a standout reason to visit, with some calling them the best prices in the area.

Blue Line Coral also runs an online auction system, giving customers another way to snag corals beyond in-store shopping. The auction platform extends the store's reach beyond Naperville, though as with any auction system, occasional hiccups can arise. The core in-store experience, however, is where Blue Line shines — walking in, browsing the coral displays, and getting Dan's take on what will thrive in your particular setup.

A notable touch: Blue Line offers discounts for military members and first responders, a detail that speaks to the shop's community-minded character. Reviewers who are new to the reef hobby specifically recommend the store as a smart starting point, where the combination of accessible pricing and willingness to educate makes the learning curve less intimidating.

With a 4.8 rating across nearly 200 reviews, Blue Line Coral has clearly found its niche in the Naperville saltwater scene. If you're building or stocking a reef tank in the western Chicago suburbs, this is a shop worth the trip for its coral selection and the kind of hands-on guidance that only a dedicated specialist can provide.

> Unprofessional on resolving issues. In November of 2025 won on auction paid online, went to the store for them to tell me it is lost. They gave me my money back and no aplogy. Recently, I won some auctions but two that I should have won per system error I did not win. I went to the store to show them proof that I won but they gave me a hard time. Emailed the owner and told me he does not run the auction program. I tried to work with them but gave me the cold shoulder and told me to take a ride what ever that means. I will no longer be giving them my business. I have bought so much from them and this is how they take care of the customers.

> Smaller shop but great people with affordable prices. Anyone just starting out setting up a reef tank should check them out. Prices are affordable so when the occasional mishap of a coral occurs you're not out of hundreds of bucks! Highly recommend. Also military and 1st responders get a discount as well.
