About
Beasties in Pueblo, Colorado is first and foremost a reptile destination — and one of the most passionate ones you'll find in the region. While the Google listing calls it a pet store, don't walk in expecting dog kibble or cat toys. This is a shop built for the exotic animal enthusiast, stocked wall-to-wall with snakes, lizards, frogs, arachnids, and the supplies to keep them thriving.
Owner Ron and his team have earned a devoted following by genuinely caring about the animals they sell and the people who buy them. The reptile selection is what draws people in. Reviewers rave about the variety of morphs across multiple species — from bearded dragons and leopard geckos to bull snakes, rhino rat snakes, and iguanas.
They also carry pacman frogs, axolotls, jumping spiders, millipedes, and isopods for the invertebrate crowd. One customer drove away from a Morphmarket purchase shipped directly from Beasties with a "perfectly healthy and stunning" rhino ratsnake, praising the communication and photo updates throughout the process. Beyond live animals, the dry goods selection is robust enough that multiple reviewers have stopped ordering online altogether.
Substrates, lighting, enclosure décor, Pangea gecko diet, and feeder insects — particularly crickets, which customers say outlast those from big-box competitors — are all staples. The staff doesn't just ring you up; they remember your animals, suggest products tailored to your setup, and freely offer husbandry advice even for pets purchased elsewhere. One customer called in when her daughter's leopard gecko stopped eating and received a thorough, reassuring explanation over the phone.
The vibe is relaxed and welcoming. Multiple reviewers describe spending time just browsing and watching the animals without feeling pressured. It's the kind of place where a first-time reptile owner can walk in nervous and leave confident, fully equipped, and already planning their next pet.
For Pueblo's exotic animal community, Beasties isn't just a store — it's a resource.

— Zac Mosier4.02 weeks ago“i love this place”
— Megan Carson5.02 weeks ago“Lots of great animals and supplies. Super knowledgeable and helpful staff.”
— Julie Arington5.02 weeks ago“Ok. I'm an experienced reptile owner. At this point I've been to many reptile shows and stores. By far this is the best reptile store I have been to. Everybody has opinions and ideas on animal husbandry, space requirements etc. But I tell you now. Every animal from this store is healthy and thriving. I have been to some deplorable stores. (I'm looking at you wildlife safari in Roswell New Mexico) and you will never find a group of more experienced snake keepers and people who actually care. I have now decided to make this store my exclusive go to for any future reptile purchases. If you can, you should almost always purchase from these guys”
— Ahizer Farrera5.0Edited a month ago“We have a bearded dragon, a few snakes and we always come here for their food. Our grandson is turning 16 and he wants an iguana so I might need to see if they have one for sale.”
— Charlie Hunt5.0a month ago“I really enjoy shopping at the store. Not only are the stores associates friendly and welcoming every single time I go in, they are always happy to help me. I never feel rushed or crazy just for wanting to look at the animals again and again. They have a wide variety of stuff to choose from and a variety of food for my particular pets. I definitely recommend shopping here, and asking any questions you have because all the staff is very knowledgeable. Happy pets, Happy mom”
— S Cla5.02 months ago“I hate to leave a review like this but the store has some serious issues. Many of the animals are kept improperly and the prices are way too high. The whites tree frogs are $60 each when literally everywhere else sells them for under $40 including on Josh’s frogs which is a very reliable site. The crested gecko enclosure is really inappropriate for cresties and I noticed that the heating and humidity was dangerously off for them and they were charging $100 for $40 cresties, they were basic morphs nothing special. The millipedes I looked at were dead because they were kept in dry coco fiber and not proper isopod substrate and the African millipedes that need to be kept in a minimum of a 20 gallon tank for 1 millipede had 2 in a tiny arboreal enclosure. The store smells of mold and reptile feces and when I bought some isopods that were $15 I got home to find I paid $15 for 4 isopods. The jumping spiders are sold for $60 without the species named and they are likely wild caught and some look to be gravid which is highly unethical. I’ve seen them give customers wild caught black widows before as well which is highly concerning and unethical. I frequently buy my Pangea from here but honestly after all the issues recently I’ll stick to ordering online. I’m also followed around the entire store and not allowed to just browse in peace. This happens every time I come in. I’m not sure if they are profiling me because of my appearance or what but being closely followed and watched every single time I come in is extremely rude especially when I’ve spent hundreds if not thousands on food and supplies. I won’t be returning.”
