I absolutely love this store and I’m so happy that they are in San Luis Obispo! Best aquarium store ever! They have a great and large selection of fish, substrate, wood and rocks, and all your aquarium and reptile needs. I have a couple freshwater aquariums set up and I really enjoy every time I get to go here.

Unlike chain pet stores, these guys were super helpful and knowledgeable. I took the kids in to pick out some new friends for our tank and these guys knew all about the fish they offered and really set us up for success. Definitely where we will continue to go in the future for all our fish needs!

I am from out of town and I always like to stop in when in the area. I really enjoy the shop, but I knocked it down a star because none of the coral items I was interested in had prices. I had to ask on everything from coral frags, fish, to snails. The owner has to be called to get the price and it made me not want to shop as much. I have to say the staff member that was helping me was extremely helpful and willing to locate prices for me. Because of his stellar service I was able to get several frags and the snails I was looking for. This place is overall awesome and worth the trip.

This was fun to check out, especially the salt water fish and coral, but I was there for some new Guppies to change up my gene pool and was gob-smacked looking at the price.... $15 EACH?! I needed another price comp to see if that was just one off, but I guess everything is marked way up since they also want 90 cents for a single Rosy Minnow! Never have I seen that high of a price before. Well I tried to support local but don't like feeling ripped off, so back down the street we went to the chain store where we literally got 3 Guppies for the price of Tropics 1. They're the only independent place around so there's very little competition but that doesn't make it ok to gouge. We well understand the whole owner operator challenges, but we also know overly high prices when we see them.

Very knowledgeable as it’s a great place to buy fish supplies, fish saltwater freshwater they also coral for sale and they’re very nice decently priced for everything. You got a good deal for shopping at a local independent store. I prefer going there over over PetSmart any day and if they don’t have anything in stock, they can order it within a week we’ll be there
