I have been to clear water many times. They are always the most knowledgeable and kind group. My kids love to come with me and it can be difficult in small stores. Ed and his team have never made this an issue. He has personally showed the kids unique fish and taught them about their biology and habits. If you want a store that won’t bull S you to buy a high end fish. These are the guys. If your in this hobby Clearwater is a must go stop.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff, they can get busy at times especially on weekends and early evening. So nice they test water for you if you don't have any test kit. I think it's a great place if you have kids and they have an opportunity to learn more about Ichthyology too. They really have a good stocking of plants and fish, and they also can do full setup without you having to do anything, if that's to your preference. Overall, because they are very close to where I live and feel better about supporting a small business than a large box store or online one.

i wish i had known about this aquarium earlier! the man running the shop (what's his name?) had a great personality and showed us around the shop. it was a very informative experience and fun learning about all the fish.

Absolutely LOVE this place. We are not big-box store people, my wife/daughter/I want to be able to ask questions? Joel is absolutely spectacular, very mellow and really knowledgable. We went in, he spent a whole hour the first time just walking us through all the different tanks, fish, and processes for a salt-water aquarium. He ultimately sent us home with research to watch, before making an investment. The next day, we decided to go for it, he was there walking us through everything we needed. It's the kind of personal service you need when you're starting such an expensive hobby. We went into the big-box store just to check it out, it was super clean and plenty of sales people buzzing around, ultimate they scared us silly with talk of killing all the fish, toxins, over-priced solutions and a bunch of other nonsense. We went straight to Joel and received calm, clear guidance and left feeling totally relieved.

We impulsively bought 4 koi from another store yesterday, and after we found out needed to condition the water, oops! We went back to previous store and they recommended we go see Ed at Clear Water Aquarium on Saratoga. He is an expert in fish care, he was very knowledgeable and informative. We learned a lot in a short period of time. We left with water conditioner, driftwood, bio rings, and live plants for our koi pond. We will definitely be going back often, thank you Ed!
