The friendliest and most knowledgeable couple own this aquarium store. They have everything you could ask for, and really know their plants and fish. I highly recommend for anyone trying to get into the hobby. I bought my tank, and a handful of supplies from them, and will be back for more. Just got a hill stream loach and he’s thriving.

My husband and I just visited today and they wouldn't let us buy a fish! So, why the 5-star review? Because we clearly didn't know what we were doing, we needed education, and this lovely couple took their time explaining pH, ammonia levels, and water/tank care. Before shopping for fish, we had made the mistake of buying a small, 2.5 gallon tank, which we learned is harder to care for than a large one. The couple at Ocean Aquarium asked us to consider a larger tank, but this small one is all that we can fit in our apartment. So, they patiently explained everything we'd need to do to maximize our chances for success. They set us up with the supplies we need to condition the water over the next month to prepare for fish and plants. They told us to bring them a water sample in a month and, if it passes their test, they'll sell us fish and plants. We loved how passionate they are about their craft and their fish. While we were disappointed that we couldn't get our fish today, we really appreciate the time they spent with us to ensure we didn't take something home today just to accidentally kill it. Besides, we now have a little knowledge and we can enjoy the next month learning more and preparing our aquarium. Edit: After a little over a month of conditioning our tank, we just went back, passed the water test, and got our fish and plants! So far, they're thriving. We really appreciate the knowledge that the couple at Ocean Aquarium spent time giving us.

Old school fish store, but in a good way. This place will not win any awards for an orderly selection of fish and hardware. But they have an unbelievable selection. I also gets such invaluable hints when we discuss my tanks. I've changed my daily regime because of the advice I got. Now my tanks lot great. Incredible selection of Beta's. I go to the store monthly just to see what is new in their livestock. Always something new of interest.

The owners of this shop are incredibly knowledgeable and kind people. It is an eclectic collection of very well planted, self-sustaining tanks which is a testament to the owner’s knowledge. Very few have running filters because very few if any need it. Prices are very reasonable and they have things that can be hard to find, e.g. unusual fish tank form factors, large live rock, etc. The only downside of this place is its location. Highly recommend taking public transit to get there. There’s a bus stop a block away, but no parking is nearly impossible.

Came here this past weekend. The couple that works there was so helpful and sweet! I loved walking around their store. My solo betta died and I was ready to start a community tank. They educated me on different options. They really want you to succeed - It was great! I loved seeing their different sorority tanks. I look forward to visiting them again.
