I've been going to exotic aquarium for at least 25 years back when it was on florin road. The new location is insane so many tanks it kinda gives the same vibes that Capitol Aquarium used to. They literally have everything here aswell as a large reptile and dry good selection. Highly recommend stopping but if only just to window shop the fish and reptiles they have so much cool stuff here.

Over the past year or two my wife and I have bought many, many fish from this location. Ranging from minnows, Koi, a ton of goldfish, Hi Fin Sharks, Shrimp, ect. We now stop by about once every two weeks just to see what comes in. We have three above ground ponds in the backyard, 500, 280, and 200 gallons approx. Plus an inside little eco thingy for the shrimp and snail. The staff at Exotic are always super helpful! Sometimes I'll be picking out a fish and get in that panicky can't make a decision mode, and they never rush me and reassure me that it's totally fine. Also, always willing to help when I have questions. At one point I had a fungus (didn't know what it was) growing on fish in one of my ponds and lost a fish, so I asked them for help. The owners son (I gotta ask his name oops) asked for pictures and after looking made a suggestion and didn't push their products knowing that they ran out of what I needed. He referred me to another way of buying. He was right, and my fish healed after treatment. It was ultimate customer service. They were busy and stressed, but he still took the time to help me. I read through some other reviews and saw some complaints and can address one: They have signs up, if you need help, go to the front desk and they coordinate for someone to help you. Don't just stop staff who are always on an assignment unless they ask if you need help. It's an organized way of doing it that seems to work good. There was one time the owner irritated my wife a little, he had some of the water plants that were added into her water plant filled bag taken out since it was too much for the price she was paying for them.. So she was paying like $5 for shrimp plants but there was maybe $8 worth in the bag so he had the staff remove them to make it down to the $5 (or whatever the amount was). This was a little cheap yea, and maybe not the best idea as far as making the customer happy. But, I think he was feeling the pressure and was in "Owner" mode. That was quite a while back, and since then my interactions with him have been awesome. We love the fish selection here and are always excited to see what comes in. Prices wise, it really just depends on what it is. Sometimes I'll see things that are cheaper than other places, and sometimes I'll see things that are more expensive. I think that's just the business based off the supplier and shipping. I know they don't have a fish guarantee, but I get it. Fish die from transfer stress, pond/aquarium quality, ect. So much of that depends on the customers care not theirs, so I agree it would be a losing money for them thing to have that kind of guarantee. We really do love this spot and appreciate the help they always give us. Plus, the selection of Goldfish is great, especially when they get the fresh shipments in.

This store has everything you would want for your aquarium. Beautiful selection in plants you will not find anywhere else. Saul has a good eye in stocking up on red plants to have available to purchase. The employees are helpful in picking out the fish you would like. David takes his time to help me get the right color puppies I'm looking for. Always a warm welcome to go in that store. Thank you, guys.

This place is new and improved. So many things to look at and it was so clean and did not smell disgusting!

I personally really like the place. Big fish selection and live plants. I’ve bought plants and fish from there both did well with the transition to my home tanks. Staff was knowledgeable with everything I asked. I try to stop in every time I’m in Sac. I bought male and female mollys and tetras that are months old now from there with no losses and the fish look healthy there
